Montreal, QC – October 17, 2017 – On October 15th, 2017, Mount Royal MP Anthony Housefather hosted his second annual Job Fair. Just like last year, the event was held at LaVoie High School (6755 Lavoie) in Housefather’s riding between 11am and 4 pm. Housefather and his team, once again held the event in partnership with Ometz, a community-based human services agency that supports and strengthens individuals and families by offering employment, immigration, school and social services.

“During my 2015 campaign the issue of finding employment was consistently raised at doors and during meetings.” said Housefather. “Many felt discouraged by their lack of opportunity, especially youth and members of visible minority communities. I wanted to do something tangible, something people in our area could benefit from and the Job Fair is a concrete example of this. I was so thrilled with last year’s success and I am excited to build on the event this year and in the years to come.” ”

The job fair will featured 25 employers from the public and private sector, a job search resource centre, assistance in preparing CVs in English and French, as well as guidance for entrepreneurs. Guest speaker, David Lisbona, a Montreal based entrepreneur, also discussed his experience with starting businesses in Montreal.

“In partnership with Ometz, we have worked closely with different community based organizations in our riding to assist them in providing employment services,” said Housefather. “We are also reaching out to people in our riding who are currently seeking employment opportunities or to better their marketability. I promised to be a community based MP and this event is just one example of my following through on this commitment.”
